Melamine powder is tasteless, odorless and non-toxic. It is used for high mechanical strength, good heat resistance and good electrical insulating properties. Melamine Formaldehyde molding powder gives clear and bright colours, is easily moldable and offers resistance to surface scratching.
Melamine (1,3,5-Triazine -2,4,6-Traimine) is obtained by thermal decomposition of Urea, in liquid phase reaction.
Manufacturing Process :
The Melamine production process produces Melamine starting from Urea as basic raw material via thermal non-catalytic high pressure route. Urea received from Urea plant and after concentration, pumped to the Melamine reactor and mixed with superheated ammonia to produce Melamine, Ammonia and carbon dioxide. The reaction of Urea to Melamine is endothermic and heat of reaction is supplied from a circulation melting salt system.
The product applied in production of resins, among Melamine-formaldehyde resin to make miscellaneous coatings, fireproof cloth manufacture (Melamine pyrophosphate), turbid inhibitors, disinfection in detergents (Chloride melamine), fabric industries, surface coating, wood glues, waterproof glues, decoration coatings, paper industry manufacture, leather and rubber manufactures.
